Christmas Celebration and Film Premier

​

On Sunday 3rd December, from 2-4pm, we held our Christmas Celebration and Film Premier at The Eaton Hotel on Hagley Road.  We had a lovely afternoon of fun and games and it was great to share it with so many families.

Waitrose Solihull

​​​

We were successfully selected to participate in the Waitrose green token scheme in October.  We will receive £300 towards our Outreach work.  A huge thank you to everyone who chose to pop their token in the Kids Like Us box.

Fundraising Evening

Kirsty Louise Postin organised a very successful, sold out fundraising evening on Thursday 28th September in Netherton. The evenings entertainment included fun, singing, a DJ, a raffle and lots more.The current total is over £600 and there is still money to be paid in.  Thank you Kirsty for your fantastic efforts.

Ten Pin Bowling

We held a bowling day at Star City at Tenpin where they have 22 lanes to provide lots of fun for all.  We had lots of families join us, with around 30 of us having fun on 6 lanes.

​

It was a great day out and we hope everyone enjoyed it.

2017 Great Birmingham Marathon

​

James Duffy ran the Birmingham Marathon on 15th October to raise funds and awareness for Kids Like Us.

​

He was running his first Marathon and managed it in the amazing time of 3 hours 36 minutes.  We are honoured that he chose to support Kids Like Us while he undertook this great achievement.

Art Exhibition

​

On 18th November Bob O'Neill hosted an Art Exhibition, including Painting and Poetry at Creative Coffee Hub, Selly Park 

It was a fun evening and we soon know the final total that was raised.

St. Margaret's Charity Day - 9th March

​

St. Margaret's, the Blue Coat School, hosted a House day in aid of Kids Like Us.

​

It all started with an assembly, followed by fun and games at lunchtime and a cake sale in the afternoon. All finished off with Afternoon tea in the Boardroom.
 

A fantastic day and the girls raised £1,540 for Kids Like Us. Amazing effort and a huge thank you to everyone involved.

Give it a Go

​

For children and young people with rheumatology conditions aged 5-18 years.

A family fun day of sport and well being and an opportunity for all abilities and ages to come and "have a go" at activities. A great day out and fun was had by all.

Bath Half Marathon 

​

Joanna Walmsley was studying at bath university and had never run before, she set herself quite a challenge for her first run! 

Joanna is a family friend and was at primary school with Gemma, one of our committee members, and has seen the challenges that she has faced through living with JIA. She wanted to support a charity where she knew that every penny would be used for the benefit of the people that the charity supports. 

​

Due to the Snow the marathon was cancelled twice but not to be deterred Joanna finally ran her own half marathon, supported by two of her friends.

Great North Swim

​

Julie and Martin Price challenged themselves to swim the Great North Swim in memory of their beautiful daughter Victoria and at the same time raise funds for Kids Like Us.  Julie signed up for 1 mile and Martin went for the 5k, both open water swims in Lake Windermere bbbrrrrrrrr!!!

They were both successful and they've raised an amazing amount of money - over £1000!

Pottery Painting

Whilst the adults chatted over coffee and cake the youngsters chose their pottery items and then decorated them. It took place at Creative Coffee Hub, Raddlebarn Road, Selly Park. Great fun was had by all and a big thank you to all who joined us.

Quiz Night

​

We had a Quiz night at King Edwards School for Girls.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along on the night and quizzed and also to everyone who was persuaded to buy raffle tickets.  We raised a phenomenal £967.13!  Every penny of this will be used for our events where young people with JIA can socialise with each other whilst their parents have the opportunity to chat.

Drayton Manor

​

We had a fantastic trip to Drayton Manor.

It was great to meet all the families who joined us on the day, and took part in our picnic in the middle of the day.
