Bath Half Marathon 4th March 2018
Joanna Walmsley is studying at bath university and she has never run before.
She has set herself quite a challenge for her first run.
Joanna is a family friend and was at primary school with Gemma, one of our committee members, and has seen the challenges that she has faced through living with JIA. She wanted to support a charity where she knew that every penny would be used for the benefit of the people that the charity supports.
Due to the Snow the marathon was cancelled, and Joanna had planned to run the Reading Half Marathon as well. Unfortunately the snow hit again !
Not to be deterred Joanna finally ran her own half marathon, supported by two of her friends.
Thank you Joanna and well done.
Great North Swim
Julie and Martin Price have challenged themselves to swim the Great North Swim in June 2018 in memory of their beautiful daughter Victoria and at the same time raise funds for Kids Like Us. Julie has signed up for 1 mile and Martin is going for the 5k, both open water swims in Lake Windermere bbbrrrrrrrr!!!
A huge challenge for both of them and all money raised will come to Kids Like Us to help us continue supporting young people living with JIA.
Julie and Martin completed the Great North Swim this month. They were both successful and they've raised an amazing amount of money - over £1000 so far.
We rely on people going the extra mile to raise funds for us and this fantastic support will help us to continue to offer support to all our JIA Warriors.
We decided that as it may be cold we'd better be inside for our March event so we went Pottery Painting. Whilst the adults chatted over coffee and cake the youngsters chose their pottery items and then decorated them.
It took place at Creative Coffee Hub, Raddlebarn Road, Selly Park on Sunday 25th March 10.30 - 12.30.
Great fun was had by all and a big thank you to all who joined us.
We had a Quiz night at King Edwards School for Girls on Friday 21st April.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along on the night and quizzed and also to everyone who was persuaded to buy raffle tickets. We raised a phenomenal £967.13! Every penny of this will be used for our events where young people with JIA can socialise with each other whilst their parents have the opportunity to chat.
